Pome-Cran-Melon-Lemon-Tini

Ok, so I'm going to have to work on the name. BUT the drink is yummy. After a long day of babysitting (I am desperate to become a yummy mummy but toddlers in the midst of potty training are NOT my thing), I came home needing a bit of a drink before heading to the bf's for a bbq and margaritas. Sidenote: Ice cream makers make the best frozen margaritas--I thought I was an on the rocks girl, but the fresh fruit margaritas that come out of this thing are divine. Anyway, due to limited booze at my place, since the bar is always at the bf's, I mixed watermelon vodka (which is not allowed at the man bar), Sprite, and cran-pomegranate juice for a sweet mid-afternoon de-stresser.

2 parts Smirnoff watermelon vodka

2 parts Sprite (to be accurate, it was diet or zero or something of that nature)

2 parts Cranberry-Pomegranate juice (storebrand)
1 slice lemon (after using the zest in Arnold Palmer Cupcakes, I had to do something with the rest of the lemon)

Cheap, beautiful and delish!

After this, look for some posts on how I'm going to make my summer classroom the cutest ever, thanks to the Cricut!!

Barbie Girl

I was so inspired by Barbie's 50th birthday party put together by even planner Colin Cowie. As a girl who wears more pink than Elle Woods and grew up with 200 Barbies, I had a mini design-gasm over this event. However, since I wasn't quite enough of an a-lister to make the guest list for this soiree, I decided to create my own Barbie-themed Bachelorette party inspiration board.

I'm thinking lots of pink cocktails, like this Watermelon Martini, this Singapore Sling, and, of course, the Cosmo. The Strawberry Frappuccino is the hangover cure ;)

Nothing screams Barbie more than a pink mini-dress. Bubble hemlines are still all around and would be fantastically fun. I wore this one for my 21st birthday in Vegas last year:

And, finally, for all things Barbie, check out Barbie Style!

Paper Treats

One cheap and easy way to spice up any decor is with paper paper pom-poms and luminaries. I bought these at Lilly Pulitzer--they were part of her new party decorations line. No, there is no party in my bedroom, but I couldn't resist them and now my closet is festive!

Martha Stewart, my idol, has a great set of directions on how to make your own. They are super simple, and even those who are craft-challenged should be able to do it with a pretty set of tissue paper.

If folding paper really isn't your thing, paper luminaries offer the same burst of color with much less work.

Luna Bazaar has about a million colors and sizes to match virtually any theme, and they have great prices, especially if you buy in bulk. As soon as I set a theme and choose a venue for my wedding (and get a ring), I'm going to go crazy here.

I Love Lilly!

Ok, so this is a bit of a cheat, but Lilly Pulitzer has the most adorable stationary and party accessories available, and while not exactly cheap, they are certainly more affordable than her clothes! If you love Lilly prints, using Lilly invitations is a much more affordable alternative than wearing one of her party dresses.
